Learn the fundamentals of the sport and sharpen your aim with fun games and challenges, including a trip to the wooded Elm Creek Archery Range. Then swap arrows for different adventures in the afternoons with Mississippi Gateway naturalists. From catching river critters and cruising on a bike to building campfires, geocaching and more—you’ll pack a whole lot of outdoor fun into one unforgettable week. Transportation to the Elm Creek Archery Range is provided. Extended care available for an additional $75; drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m.
Join the Outdoor Recreation School for a summer camp focused on fishing and other fun recreation activities! Spend time each day learning about fishing equipment, how to safely handle a pole and a fish, tie knots and cast your line. Try awesome recreation activities such as canoeing, geocaching, archery, slacklining and more. Equipment provided.
Discover how to survive in the woods. Practice keeping a fire lit and build an emergency shelter. Learn to overcome obstacles in your path and hone your skills in off-trail games. Find your way through the woods with the Geocaching Challenge. This is a great sibling camp that can be divided into smaller groups by age. Join the Outdoor Recreation School for a geocaching adventure full of leprechaun surprises. Use GPS technology to explore the park and find fun things left behind by the tricky leprechauns.
Go on a hunt looking for the tastiest treasure of all, maple syrup. You'll learn how to use a GPS device and about the process to make maple syrup. The class involves walking roughly two miles on mostly flat terrain and tasting a small sample of Lowry's award winning maple syrup.

Learn geocaching basics before searching for hidden s'more ingredient coupons throughout the park. End with roasting your s'more over a fire. Equipment provided.
The great blue herons have returned to the Upper Mississippi River! Learn about herons and their lives on a geocaching course, pretend you’re a great blue heron migrating along the Mississippi Flyway by playing a game. Gain experience using binoculars as you take a walk in search of herons and look for their distinctive blue eggs.
See if you have what it takes to be a voyager! Step into the past and learn about the early fur traders of Minnesota. Study the animals of the fur trade while you practice your animal tracking. Set out into the wilderness to check a geocaching "trapline." Meet up at the rendezvous to play games and sing voyager songs, then gather your furs and visit a trading post.
Learn the basics of snowshoeing. The program will cover selecting snowshoe sizes, getting up if you fall and choosing the right trail. After a bit of instruction, you will practice your new skills out on a winter hike. If there is not enough snow, we will substitute geocaching as an alternative adventure. All equipment is provided.

Team up with the Outdoor Recreation School and Richardson Nature Center to uncover the critters and creatures that call Minnesota home. From nature hikes and creek or lake explorations, to log rolling, geocaching and more, every day brings a new adventure. All equipment is provided.
