Learn how to use a GPS, then head out on the trails to discover fascinating river facts as we celebrate the Big Year of Rivers. All ages welcome. Free.


Geocaching for Teens and Adults with Autism

Learn how to geocache using a GPS unit on a permanent GPS course. Complete the course for a small prize. You will need to be able to navigate over 1 mile along trails for up to an hour. Participants must be able to demonstrate self-care skills without assistance, independently follow adult direction and safety rules, and show readiness for large group participation, including always remaining with the group. This program is entirely outdoors. Free.


Geocaching for Treats

Wondering how to celebrate Halloween? Come join us for a special geocaching romp through the woods! After a quick tutorial on how to use our GPS receivers and a visit to our practice cache, groups will search the woods for hidden treats. $8/child.


Girl Scouts: Juniors Geocacher Badge

Learn how to use a GPS unit and search for points hidden in the woods. Make a trade item and find out how to do more geocaching on your own. Reservations are required. $6/Scout.


Homeschool Family: Fall Adventure Club

Bring the whole family out to the park for an adventure series with the Outdoor Recreation School this fall. Each week you’ll explore a new recreation skill while spending time in nature with your family. Activities include canoeing, archery, disc golf, slacklining and geocaching. Everyone attending this program must register and pay. Students must be accompanied by a registered adult. $24/person.


Homeschool Family: Winter Adventure Club

Embrace the winter season with your family at an adventure series with the Outdoor Recreation School! Each month you’ll explore a new recreation skill while spending time in nature with your family. Activities may include snowshoeing, kicksledding, cross-country skiing, geocaching and fire building. Activities are subject to change based on snow conditions. $18/person.


Junior Nature Quest

This MEA weekend, earn a nature badge by completing the ultimate nature quest! Try several activities in and around Eastman Nature Center: pond dipping, fall tree hiking, geocaching, meeting an animal ambassador and more. As a reward for your hard work, create a sweet treat over the fire. $6/child.


Scout Discovery Day: Fall

We have created a day of ongoing activities that you can do at your own pace. Choose which activities to participate in depending upon your time and group interest. Learn the skill of geocaching and uncover facts about our rivers, participate in the rock life cycle activity and spend time exploring the geology discovery station. For added fun we will have a campfire going if you want to cook with your scouts. Morning session activities run 9:30–12 p.m. Afternoon session activities run 1-3:30 p.m. Bring your own supplies to cook lunch over our fire or prepare your own treat. Fire for cooking will be available 11:30–1:30 p.m. $9/Scout.


Trick or Treat Geocaching

Join the Outdoor Recreation School on a geocaching adventure full of Halloween surprises and treats. All ages welcome. $8/person.


Trick or Treat Geocaching - Mississippi Gateway

Enjoy a family-friendly outdoor Halloween program. Learn geocaching basics before searching the park for hidden caches. Discovered caches may contain your ticket to a treat, treasure or the occasional trick! Costumes are encouraged. All ages welcome. $7/person.


Trick or Treat Geocaching - Scott County

Join the Outdoor Recreation School on a geocaching adventure full of Halloween surprises and treats. All ages are welcome. This program is in partnership with Scott County. $8/person.
