Archery & Adventure Camp

Start your mornings at the archery range with instructors from the Outdoor Recreation School. Learn the fundamentals of the sport and sharpen your aim with fun games and challenges, including a trip to the wooded Elm Creek Archery Range. Then swap arrows for different adventures in the afternoons with Mississippi Gateway naturalists. From catching river critters and cruising on a bike to building campfires, geocaching and more—you’ll pack a whole lot of outdoor fun into one unforgettable week. Transportation to the Elm Creek Archery Range is provided. Extended care available for an additional $75; drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m.


Big Year of Rivers: Home on the Minnesota River

Tíŋta Otuŋwe, Prairieville, Murphy’s Ferry, National Youth Camp and Historic Murphy’s Landing are all names that have described The Landing. Join Three Rivers Park District for a Big Year of Rivers event to celebrate the natural and human history of The Landing and the Minnesota River. Engage in free activities for all ages. Tour the historic village, try recreation activities like atlatls and geocaching, and bike the regional trail. Learn about the 10,000 years of human history and discover some of the animals that call the Minnesota River home, from small aquatics to birds of prey. Come join us for all this and more! Free.


Curious About Camping

Curious about camping but not sure where to start? Bring the whole family out to the park for a free, hands-on outdoor adventure! Drop in and set up a tent and a hammock, start a campfire and roast marshmallows over the flames. Head out on a short geocaching hunt to discover hidden treasures around the park. This relaxed, family-friendly program is a great way to build outdoor confidence for all ages. The Readmobile, a library on wheels, will be on site with books and activities for curious minds. This program was made possible with support from CAP Agency, Family Resource Centers of Scott County and the Scott County Library. Meet at Oak Grove Group Camp. Free


Fishing & Outdoors Camp

Join the Outdoor Recreation School for a summer camp focused on fishing and other fun recreation activities! Spend time each day learning about fishing equipment, how to safely handle a pole and a fish, tie knots and cast your line. Try awesome recreation activities such as canoeing, geocaching, archery, slacklining and more. Equipment provided.


Forts, Fire & Fun Camp

Discover how to survive in the woods. Practice keeping a fire lit and build an emergency shelter. Learn to overcome obstacles in your path and hone your skills in off-trail games. Find your way through the woods with the Geocaching Challenge. This is a great sibling camp that can be divided into smaller groups by age. Extended care available for an additional $60; drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m.


Mississippi River Trivia Geocaching

Challenge yourself, or your team, as you geocache your way to fascinating questions about the Mighty Mississippi. Can you answer them all?  Finish the evening with conversation and, if you desire wine or beer brought from home. $6/person.


Nature & Adventure Camp

Spend your summer days exploring the outdoors through hands-on adventures and nature discoveries! Team up with the Outdoor Recreation School and Richardson Nature Center to uncover the critters and creatures that call Minnesota home. From nature hikes and creek or lake explorations, to log rolling, geocaching and more, every day brings a new adventure. All equipment is provided.


Tributary Treasures Geocaching

Go on a geocaching adventure and celebrate the Big Year of Rivers with the Outdoor Recreation School. Learn how to use a GPS unit and explore the park to find geocaches full of river-themed trivia and fun prizes. No previous experience is needed. $6/person.
