Adapted Mountain Bike Club

Enjoy the sport of mountain biking with the Outdoor Recreation School on an adapted three-wheeled mountain bike. We will ride on an accessible singletrack trail when it is open and a paved trail when the singletrack trail is closed. This program is entirely outdoors. All equipment will be provided; six adapted bikes available to choose from. Please bring a personal bike helmet, eye protection and gloves if you have them. If not, we will provide them. Reservations required. Participants ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Trained staff and volunteers will accompany riders each session on the trail. A family, friend or PCA is encouraged to be present at the start and end of the program to assist with transfers, communication or other personal needs. $30/three sessions.


Adult Lessons: Get Golf Ready Level 3 - Glen Lake

This adult program focuses on playing better golf through practical, on-course learning in addition to practice perfecting techniques. Core skills like full swing, chipping, and putting are introduced in the first three sessions. In session four, players apply these skills on the course, and wrap up with performance review and a personalized improvement plan. Decision making, club selection, rules, and the mental game are woven throughout to help golfers play smarter and enjoy the game more. $155/four lesson. Three 1 hours classes, last day is 1.5 hours on the course.


Cleary Cup Jr. Golf Championship - Cleary Lake

Compete to become the Jr. Club Champion. Divisions are split by age and gender. Each round consists of nine holes with a shotgun start. Qualifier round is Wednesday, August 12; trophies are awarded to the lowest three scores in each division. The 20 lowest overall scores compete in the championship round on Thursday, August 13 at 8:30 a.m.; the participant with the lowest combined score over both days is Jr. Club Champion.


Dryland Fitness Club

Get fit while making new friends and having fun outdoors! Join cross-country ski instructors from the Outdoor Recreation School for a season of dryland training. Improve your health and fitness for year-round activity, sports performance or for the cross-country ski season. Work on strength, core, mobility, balance and cardio conditioning through pole hiking, hill-bounding and circuit training. Locations may vary throughout Hyland Park Reserve depending on trail conditions. $100/10 sessions.


Fall Hiking Club

Enjoy the optimal fall hiking season and explore the parks in Scott County with an Outdoor Recreation School Instructor. Hike a different trail each week. Make new connections and meet fellow hikers or bring a friend along! Expect variable trail conditions. Locations subject to change; an updated schedule will be provided to registered participants. This program is in partnership with Scott County. $30/person.


Grandparent Picnic & Paddleboat with Juggler Tuey

Together with Club Prior, we invite grandparents and their grandchildren to picnic, play lawn games, be mesmerized by Tuey the Juggler and paddleboat on Cleary Lake. Spending time outdoors enhances wellness by enhancing physical and mental health and social connections. Please bring your own food and drink. Paddleboats will be available first-come, first-served in 30-minute increments. Meet at Lakeview Picnic Shelter. This program is in partnership with Scott County. Free.


Homeschool Drop-off Series: Archery Club

Join instructors from the Outdoor Recreation School to explore the sport of archery. Learn the fundamentals of archery in a safe and supportive environment. Participants will learn proper form, safety techniques, and target shooting through practice, games and challenges. Whether you are a beginner or looking to improve your skills, our club fosters confidence, patience and empowerment. No prior experience is necessary. This is a youth drop-off program. $48/person.


Homeschool Family: Fall Adventure Club

Bring the whole family out to the park for an adventure series with the Outdoor Recreation School this fall. Each week you’ll explore a new recreation skill while spending time in nature with your family. Activities include canoeing, archery, disc golf, slacklining and geocaching. Everyone attending this program must register and pay. Students must be accompanied by a registered adult. $24/person.


Homeschool Family: Winter Adventure Club

Embrace the winter season with your family at an adventure series with the Outdoor Recreation School! Each month you’ll explore a new recreation skill while spending time in nature with your family. Activities may include snowshoeing, kicksledding, cross-country skiing, geocaching and fire building. Activities are subject to change based on snow conditions. $18/person.


MNOC Summer Adventure Race

The Outdoor Recreation School is excited to host the Minnesota Orienteering Club for this exciting suburban adventure race including paddle/bike/trekking activities and some unique special “challenges”. This event will include a three-hour short course and an eight-hour long course option for solo racers or teams of two, three or four. Solo racers must be 18 years old with demonstrated experience. Racers younger than 18 must be part of a team with their legal guardian. Registration is taken through MNOC.


Morning Stretch & Stroll: 55+ Walking Club

Start your Monday mornings with fresh air, movement and good company! Developed in partnership with Club Prior, Morning Stretch and Stroll is a casual, quick walking club for adults ages 55+ looking to boost their health by walking outdoors on a peaceful paved path at a distance of a little over a mile with a stretching break incorporated at the midpoint. These 45-minute guided walking sessions will help you maintain your mobility and cardiovascular health. Nordic walking poles available upon request. This free program is in partnership with Scott County. Free.


Morning Stretch & Stroll: 55+ Walking Club

Start your Monday mornings with fresh air, movement and good company! Developed in partnership with Club Prior, Morning Stretch and Stroll is a casual walking club for adults ages 55+ looking to boost their health by walking outdoors on a peaceful path at a distance of a little over a mile. Halfway through, we will stop to focus on activities that enhance balance and agility. The 45-minute guided walking sessions will help you maintain your mobility and cardiovascular health. Nordic walking poles are available upon request. This program is in partnership with Scott County. Free.


My Preschooler & Me: Acorn Club

Join us for a once monthly program exploring the creative arts and natural world. Cozy up for a story or song, head on a hike to observe the wild surroundings and create an art project inspired by what you find. This program will occur primarily outdoors with access to the indoors for restroom breaks and when necessary for some artmaking activities. $7/person. Ages: 2-6 plus adult. Siblings under age 2 are free but must register.


Paddle Club

Join the Outdoor Recreation School for a summer of paddling and celebrating our Big Year of Rivers! Learn new skills, refine your paddling technique and explore parks by watercraft. Some paddling experience recommended. Paddle sports alternate between kayak, canoe and stand-up paddleboard. Locations vary by week. The final day of club will meet for an extended program time of 5:30–8:30 p.m. to paddle on the Mississippi River. Please note that the Outdoor Recreation School is offering two Paddle Clubs this summer. Please limit your registration to just one Paddle Club so that more folks have an opportunity to join. Park locations will vary each week of club. You will be emailed a schedule from your Lead Instructor prior to the first week of club. $190/person.


Trails Club for Women

Stay active and explore the Park District with an Outdoor Recreation School instructor and others who enjoy hiking. We’ll check out a different trail each week, learn a little about navigating trails, Leave No Trace hiking and get to know each other while we hike. Expect variable trail conditions. Locations subject to change; an updated schedule will be provided to registered participants. $95/person.
