A Space Saga Story Camp: Nature is the Way

Join forces with others from around the galaxy as you join the Lowry Bounty Guild. We've been entrusted with an item that must be delivered. Everyone wants what we have. Learn about plants and animals, practice survival skills, take aim and try archery, become an expert in camouflage, hunt down clues and explore uncharted territories all while keeping an eye out for friend and foe as we race to save the day and unravel a galaxy-wide mystery. Bikes and helmets required for one day of camp.

Advanced Archery Camp

Join Outdoor Recreation School instructors for an exhilarating week of precision, skill and camaraderie. Shoot long, recurve and compound bows. Develop and refine proper technique by learning the National Training System’s 11 steps to shooting. Get tips to shoot proficiently from varying distances while exploring a walk-around course and shooting from an elevated platform. Discover primitive hunting techniques and challenge yourself with shooting games. Equipment provided.


Adventure Camp

Archery & Adventure Camp

Start your mornings at the archery range with instructors from the Outdoor Recreation School. Learn the fundamentals of the sport and sharpen your aim with fun games and challenges, including a trip to the wooded Elm Creek Archery Range. Then swap arrows for different adventures in the afternoons with Mississippi Gateway naturalists. From catching river critters and cruising on a bike to building campfires, geocaching and more—you’ll pack a whole lot of outdoor fun into one unforgettable week. Transportation to the Elm Creek Archery Range is provided. Extended care available for an additional $75; drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m.


Archery & the Outdoors Camp: Baker

Take your archery skills to the next level. Learn proper technique when using different types of bows and get tips from certified archery instructors. Play games from the Explore Archery program and participate in an archery tournament. Learn survival skills, knot tying, fire starting techniques and how to throw hatchets, atlatls and more. Designed for beginning to intermediate archers. All equipment provided. Extended care available for an additional $48; drop-off begins at 8 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m.


Archery & the Outdoors Camp: Elm Creek

Spend your mornings learning the art of archery at the range with Outdoor Recreation School instructors. Shoot a compound bow, learn range safety and develop proper techniques while playing fun target games. In the afternoons, head to Eastman Nature Center to explore the outdoors with hands-on activities, games and adventures. From discovering local wildlife to exploring trails, each day brings a new way to connect with nature while having fun with friends.


Axes, Archery & Crossbows

Learn how to throw hatchets, shoot a compound bow and a crossbow. Try them all in one afternoon! After a short lesson and introduction, you will practice each of these activities while enjoying the afternoon with family and friends. $12/person.


Family Adventure Day: Archery & Fishing

Are you looking for a day of outdoor adventure the whole family can enjoy together? Join the Outdoor Recreation School for a Family Adventure Day where you’ll learn to hit the target and reel in the fun! Start on the archery range as our instructors teach you how to safely aim, draw, and shoot like a pro. Cheer each other on, test your accuracy, and see who can hit the bullseye! Then head to the water to practice casting, baiting, and try your luck at catching a fish or two. Learn tips and tricks while enjoying time together outdoors. This program is designed for all skill levels and focuses on fun, teamwork, and trying something new as a family. $18/person.


Family Camp

Stay overnight in a rustic log cabin with your family. Try summer camp activities such as archery, climbing, nature programs and crafts, or spend time relaxing on your own. Meals are on your own and cooked at outdoor grill sites. Camp activity equipment, advice, firewood and cooking/eating utensils provided. Maximum one cabin per family (maximum eight people). $240 per cabin plus tax.


Family Camp: Tent Edition

Stay overnight in a tent with your family at the Lake Katrina group site in Baker Park. Learn new camping skills and participate in summer camp activities such as archery, crafts, games and nature programs, or spend time relaxing on your own. Meals are on your own and cooked at outdoor grill sites or on cookstoves. We provide your tents, sleeping pads, lanterns, cookstoves, firewood and advice, as well as all camp activity equipment. Two tents per registration provided (maximum eight people). $160 per site plus tax.


Family Hunter Education Overnight Camp

Earn a Minnesota DNR firearms safety certificate while camping overnight in a log cabin with friends or family. Learn safe firearms handling, hunter ethics and education and wildlife management. Shoot a .22 at a local gun range. Try archery, fire starting techniques, rock climbing and survival skills. All meals and equipment provided. Maximum six children per adult (cabins sleep eight). Run by DNR-certified firearms safety instructors. $399 per cabin plus tax.


Fishing & Outdoors Camp

Join the Outdoor Recreation School for a summer camp focused on fishing and other fun recreation activities! Spend time each day learning about fishing equipment, how to safely handle a pole and a fish, tie knots and cast your line. Try awesome recreation activities such as canoeing, geocaching, archery, slacklining and more. Equipment provided.


Food, Fires & Friendships Camp

Join us for a week of campfire cooking, creative fire making and epic fort building! Every day we will practice a new way to make fire, cook up a scrumptious campfire dish and build cool forts in the woods. We will also take time to experience other camp favorites like archery, pond exploring and crafts. Finish the week with a great campfire cook-off. Extended care available for an additional $48; drop-off begins at 8 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m.


Friends & Family Archery

Discover the joy of archery while learning archery basics, elements of safety, shooting at stationary targets and playing games. Equipment provided. Designed for beginning to intermediate archers. $12/person.


GreenFit Club: Outdoor Adventures

Summer camp for adults? Yes! Explore different parks and activities under the guidance of skilled instructors from the Outdoor Recreation School. Be part of a community focused on health and wellness in nature. Activities include canoeing, log rolling, disc golf, archery, stand-up paddleboarding and more! Park locations will vary each week of club. You will be emailed a schedule from your Lead Instructor prior to the first week of club. $120/person.


Historic Dakota Lifeways Camp

Step into the past to experience early Minnesota as we explore the historic lifeways of the Dakota people. Paddle a canoe across the water, practice archery skills and help raise a traditional style tipi. Try your hand at fire-starting and traditional Dakota games. Learn Dakota words connected to the natural world and discover the cultural significance of many plants and animals. This camp is based out of Lowry Nature Center but includes an off-site visit with bus transportation to Shakopee to visit The Landing (Three Rivers Park District) and Hocokata Ti Cultural Center (Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.) Extended care available for an additional $48; drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m.


Hunter Education Camp: Bird Hunting

Gain extensive hands-on firearms safety instruction and earn your Minnesota DNR Firearms Safety Certificate while exploring the world of bird hunting. Learn pheasant, turkey and waterfowl ecology with some hunting tips and techniques. Shoot a shotgun and .22 at a local gun range. Try archery, shooting crossbows, survival skills, making a turkey call and more. Designed for beginning hunters who do not have their firearms safety certification. Run by DNR-certified firearms safety instructors. All equipment provided. Scholarships may be available; for information, call 763-694-7856. Sponsored by the Northwest Suburban Chapter of Pheasants Forever and National Wild Turkey Federation. Friday's location will be at the Delano Sportsman Club. Campers will be assigned a two hour range timeslot and will need to provide their own transportation. Extended care available Monday-Thursday for an additional $48; drop-off begins at 8 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m. Extended care not available on Friday.

Run by DNR-certified firearms safety instructors. All equipment provided. Scholarships may be available; for information, call 763-694-7856. Sponsored by the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association. Friday location will be at the Delano Sportsman Club. Campers will be assigned a two hour range timeslot and will need to provide their own transportation. Outdoor Adventure Camp

Get ready for summer adventures! Put your survival skills to the test with shelter building and fire-making. Step back in time with historical games like spear throwing. Practice your precision and archery skills with a compound bow. Try your luck at baiting a hook and reeling in a fish at Bush Lake. Take to the water and enjoy a canoeing adventure on scenic Turtle Basking Pond. Learn essential outdoor skills and cool tricks from seasoned experts to prepare for your future adventures. Registration required by two weeks prior.


Outdoor Maker Camp

Put your hands and brains to work making, creating and building. Practice skills including beginner wood carving, campfire cooking, weaving and more. Experiment and explore while creating your own art with natural materials. Try out other outdoor activities like archery and canoeing. All materials provided. Extended care available for an additional $48; drop-off begins at 8 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m.


Women's Archery Club

Join a community that promotes empowerment through the focus, discipline and precision that archery offers. Outdoor Recreation School instructors will take you through the fundamental skills of archery and elements of safety. Practice shooting at stationary targets, get tips to shoot proficiently from varying distances, participate in challenges and play fun games all while you improve your newly learned skills. After learning the basics of shooting a compound bow, discover a primitive hunting technique, atlatls, for an extra challenge. This club provides a supportive, beginner-friendly environment to hone your skills, build confidence and connect with other women.


Zombie Survival Camp

A strange new pathogen is spreading around the world turning people into zombies. We need you to help find a cure, fight zombies and survive while riding bikes around the park. This camp will be a combination of learning how scientists investigate outbreaks and learning to survive. Learn axe throwing, archery, how to hide and other survival skills while playing zombie games in the woods. Get ready for four days of zombies, science and fun. Extended care available for an additional $48; drop-off begins at 8:30 a.m. and pick-up ends at 5 p.m.
