Adult Golf Lessons: Get Golf Ready 1 - Cleary Lake

New to golf? This program is perfect for adults with little or no experience who want to learn the game. Over five fun and interactive lessons, our Golf Academy teaching professionals will teach you the fundamentals, helping you build confidence and skills to start your golfing journey. You’ll cover key techniques, including putting, chipping, pitching, and the full swing, as well as basic rules and etiquette to help you feel comfortable on the course. If you have clubs, bring them along; if not, we’ll provide clubs, balls, and all the equipment you need. $150/ five lessons.


Adult Golf Lessons: Get Golf Ready 2 - Cleary Lake

This program is designed to build upon skills learned in Get Golf Ready 1 or for the golfer with some experience who wants to improve their fundamentals and basic golf skills. Lessons cover irons, driving, pitching, chipping and putting. Completion prepares participants for leagues, recreational play, and private lessons. Bring clubs if you have them, otherwise golf clubs, balls and other equipment are provided. $150/five lessons.


Boating & Beachfront Bonanza

Nothing says August like pedaling or paddling across the lake with your family. Explore the variety of watercraft available at Cleary Lake Regional Park during this open boathouse event: paddleboats, canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs) will be arranged on the sand. Get out on the water on a paddleboat or try a mini-canoe lesson, available to on a first-come, first served basis. We’ll also play in the sand, so dress for mess. The Readmobile, a library on wheels, will be on site with books and activities for curious minds. This free program is made possible with support from CAP Agency, the Family Resource Centers of Scott County and Scott County Library. All children are welcome to observe; participants must weigh at least 30 pounds and wear a flotation device (provided). Meet at the Cleary Lake Boat House. Cleary Cup Jr. Golf Championship - Cleary Lake

Compete to become the Jr. Club Champion. Divisions are split by age and gender. Each round consists of nine holes with a shotgun start. Qualifier round is Wednesday, August 12; trophies are awarded to the lowest three scores in each division. The 20 lowest overall scores compete in the championship round on Thursday, August 13 at 8:30 a.m.; the participant with the lowest combined score over both days is Jr. Club Champion.


Fall Colors Family Canoeing

Enjoy the colorful foliage while canoeing with instructors from the Outdoor Recreation School. We’ll learn canoeing basics including safety and paddle strokes and then enjoy exploring the lake together. This program is in partnership with Scott County. $12/person.


Fall Colors Family Kayaking - Scott County

Join the Outdoor Recreation School to create fun memories on the water. Learn kayaking safety and proper paddling techniques. $12/person.


Fall Hiking Club

Enjoy the optimal fall hiking season and explore the parks in Scott County with an Outdoor Recreation School Instructor. Hike a different trail each week. Make new connections and meet fellow hikers or bring a friend along! Expect variable trail conditions. Locations subject to change; an updated schedule will be provided to registered participants. This program is in partnership with Scott County. $30/person.


Family Canoeing - Scott County

Get your family out on the water with instructors from the Outdoor Recreation School. We’ll learn canoeing basics including safety and paddle strokes and then enjoy exploring the lake together. This program is in partnership with Scott County. $12/person.


Grandparent Picnic & Paddleboat with Juggler Tuey

Together with Club Prior, we invite grandparents and their grandchildren to picnic, play lawn games, be mesmerized by Tuey the Juggler and paddleboat on Cleary Lake. Spending time outdoors enhances wellness by enhancing physical and mental health and social connections. Please bring your own food and drink. Paddleboats will be available first-come, first-served in 30-minute increments. Meet at Lakeview Picnic Shelter. This program is in partnership with Scott County. Free.

Step into the quiet embrace of the forest and let nature wash over you. Shinrin-Yoku, or “forest bathing”, is more than a walk—it’s an immersion of the senses, a return to the wisdom of the trees. Feel the cool whisper of the breeze against your skin. Breathe in the earthy scent of moss and pine, and the sweetness of damp leaves. Hear the rhythmic rustle of branches, the distant call of a bird, the gentle trickle of water over smooth stone. With each step, the weight of the world softens, your mind quiets, your body unwinds. Guided by a certified Forest Bathing practitioner, you’ll be invited to slow down and engage deeply with your surroundings—touching bark craggy as time, watching sunlight dance through shifting canopies, tasting the crispness of the air itself. Through gentle prompts and mindful reflection, you’ll rediscover the innate connection between yourself and the living world. This is not a hike, nor a destination—it is an experience of presence, a practice of simply being. Homeschool Drop-off Series: Archery Club

Join instructors from the Outdoor Recreation School to explore the sport of archery. Learn the fundamentals of archery in a safe and supportive environment. Participants will learn proper form, safety techniques, and target shooting through practice, games and challenges. Whether you are a beginner or looking to improve your skills, our club fosters confidence, patience and empowerment. No prior experience is necessary. This is a youth drop-off program. $48/person.


Homeschool Family: Fall Adventure Club

Bring the whole family out to the park for an adventure series with the Outdoor Recreation School this fall. Each week you’ll explore a new recreation skill while spending time in nature with your family. Activities include canoeing, archery, disc golf, slacklining and geocaching. Everyone attending this program must register and pay. Students must be accompanied by a registered adult. $24/person.


Homeschool Family: Winter Adventure Club

Embrace the winter season with your family at an adventure series with the Outdoor Recreation School! Each month you’ll explore a new recreation skill while spending time in nature with your family. Activities may include snowshoeing, kicksledding, cross-country skiing, geocaching and fire building. Activities are subject to change based on snow conditions. $18/person.


Jr. Golf Lesson League: Birdie 1 - Cleary Lake

Juniors are expected to be able to play nine holes of golf before joining this league. This league teaches basic golf skills and USGA rules and etiquette within the context of First Tee. Lessons consist of games and instruction in a group setting. No lessons or play June 29–July 5. Dates listed below are for the lessons only. League play is June 15th - August 10th. Our Birdie Level lessons are designed for junior golfers who have progressed beyond the basics and are ready to take their game to the next level. Ideal for players who regularly play nine holes, have completed a Par Level lesson or its equivalent, and are dedicated to skill development. Program highlights include detailed instruction on essential aspects of the game, including putting, chipping, pitching, sand play, irons, and woods. Instructors place an emphasis on strategies and decision-making to improve performance on the course. Sessions are designed to refine technique and enhance overall gameplay, fostering confidence in each participant's abilities. This program is perfect for young golfers who are committed to developing their skills, understanding the game more deeply, and enjoying the challenge of golf. $125/five lessons.


Jr. Golf Lessons: Hooked on Golf 1 - Cleary Lake

Join us for Hooked on Golf 1 – Par Level, a comprehensive four-lesson program from First Tee Minnesota designed to make golf fun and engaging for kids. With an option to include a new starter set of golf clubs, this program offers an exciting opportunity for young golfers to learn and grow. Program highlights include golf fundamentals focused on essential golf skills, including putting, chipping and full swing techniques. Participants will receive an introduction to First Tee life skills, helping kids develop positive values such as respect, responsibility and perseverance. Each session features a 30-minute segment on golf etiquette, golf course maintenance, and environmental awareness, teaching young golfers about the broader aspects of the sport and how to appreciate the game’s setting. This program is perfect for kids ready to build their golf skills and learn valuable life lessons in a supportive and fun environment. Please know your child’s height and whether they are right or left-handed before registering. $309 with clubs; $199 without clubs.


Jr. Golf Lessons: Little Whippers - Cleary Lake

Introduce your young ones to the exciting world of golf with our fun and interactive mini lessons! These lessons are specially designed to create a positive first experience for aspiring golfers. Program highlights include fun and engaging activities, playful games and exercises that teach the fundamentals of putting, chipping and the full swing in an enjoyable way. Participants should bring a putter, 7-iron, and 9-iron. Limited clubs are available for those who need them. $60/three lessons.


Jr. Golf Lessons: Par Level - Cleary Lake

Par Level junior golf lessons are designed for beginners or those who have completed the Player Level and are ready to take the next step. These sessions help build on foundational skills and introduce more advanced aspects of the game. Program highlights include fundamental training focused on the basic techniques of the long and short game, including putting, chipping, and the use of irons and woods. Participants will get an introduction to USGA golf rules and proper golf etiquette to ensure a well-rounded knowledge of the sport. Lessons will include activities and drills aimed at improving consistency and confidence on the course. These lessons are designed to strengthen young golfers’ abilities, instill good sportsmanship, and deepen their love for the game in a supportive and engaging environment. $130/five lessons.


Jr. Golf Lessons: Player Level - Cleary Lake

Our Player Level lessons are perfect for young golfers who want to learn skills and develop a lifelong interest in the game. These lessons focus on building a strong foundation and promoting a love for golf that continues as they grow. Program highlights include skill development focused on essential aspects of the game, including the short game, putting, chipping and full swing. Young golfers will be introduced to golf equipment, essential terms, basic rules and proper etiquette. Participants will explore the Nine Core Values of First Tee, which help instill discipline, respect, and integrity both on and off the course. These lessons provide the perfect balance of skill-building and fun, setting the stage for future growth and enjoyment in golf. $130/five lessons.


Kayak Essentials - Scott County

Learn safety skills and proper paddling form and techniques with Outdoor Recreation School instructors. Beginners and anyone who has never previously had formal kayak instruction will gain knowledge and skills from this class. This program is in partnership with Scott County. $50/person.


KidSplash: Introduction to Kayaking - Scott County

Leave the adults at home and join the Outdoor Recreation School to learn the basics of kayaking in this youth drop-off program. Then participate in games designed to test your new skills while on the water! This program is in partnership with Scott County. $20/person.


KidSplash: Stand-up Paddleboarding - Scott County

Leave the adults at home and join Outdoor Recreation School instructors for a splash-filled introduction to stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). You’ll learn the basics of SUP equipment, simple paddle strokes and how to stay safe on the water in changing conditions. Try paddling in different positions—laying down, sitting, kneeling and standing—and build confidence getting on and off your board in the water. We’ll mix in fun challenges and water games so you can test your new skills, practice your balance and make a splash with friends. This program is in partnership with Scott County. $20/person.


Lakeside Yoga

Unwind at the water’s edge with a relaxed evening yoga class by the lake. As the sun begins to set and the sounds of nature settle around us, we’ll move through gentle, all-levels sequences designed to release tension and help you slow down after the day. This class focuses on easy movement, deep breathing and taking in the peaceful beauty of a summer evening outdoors. Bring a water bottle and a yoga mat or towel. Meet at Lakeview Picnic Area at the far end of Park Road within Cleary Lake Regional Park. This program is in partnership with Scott County. $15/person.


LPGA-USGA Girls: Two Girl Scramble - Cleary Lake

Morning Stretch & Stroll: 55+ Walking Club

Start your Monday mornings with fresh air, movement and good company! Developed in partnership with Club Prior, Morning Stretch and Stroll is a casual, quick walking club for adults ages 55+ looking to boost their health by walking outdoors on a peaceful paved path at a distance of a little over a mile with a stretching break incorporated at the midpoint. These 45-minute guided walking sessions will help you maintain your mobility and cardiovascular health. Nordic walking poles available upon request. This free program is in partnership with Scott County. Free.


Morning Stretch & Stroll: 55+ Walking Club

Start your Monday mornings with fresh air, movement and good company! Developed in partnership with Club Prior, Morning Stretch and Stroll is a casual walking club for adults ages 55+ looking to boost their health by walking outdoors on a peaceful path at a distance of a little over a mile. Nature & Adventure Camp

Spend your summer days exploring the outdoors through hands-on adventures and nature discoveries! Team up with the Outdoor Recreation School and Richardson Nature Center to uncover the critters and creatures that call Minnesota home. From nature hikes and creek or lake explorations, to log rolling, geocaching and more, every day brings a new adventure. All equipment is provided.


Outdoor Qigong

Join guest teaching artist Scott Stafford for Outdoor Qigong, a guided practice focused on finding flow with nature through breath and movement. This class will offer techniques for quieting the mind and easing the body, including seated and standing sequences from tai chi and qigong forms to promote overall well-being and balance. Together, we will move in and with nature, with a special focus on seasonal transition. No experience necessary. Anyone 18 and older is welcome. A yoga mat or towel for sitting on is recommended. Class will be held entirely outdoors. Meet outside the Cleary Lake Visitor Center. $15/person.
