Cedar Lake Farm Boat Tour & Picnic

The city of Prior Lake in collaboration with Three Rivers-Scott County are looking forward to a day trip to Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park. Located on the south shore of Cedar Lake near New Prague, Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park is a picturesque site for picnicking, fishing, educational and recreational activities. Join us as we explore the park, take a group boat tour on Cedar Lake, fish from the pier (fishing poles and boat tour provided by “Let’s Go Fishing”), check on the purple martin nests, take a stroll to tour a lakeside cabins, try your hand at watercolor painting and enjoy a self-packed picnic on the park grounds. Pencil in a back-up date of July 8 in case the weather does not cooperate on June 24. Dress for the weather, pack a picnic lunch, and bring water, sunscreen and bug spray. NOTE: Transportation available. You may meet at Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park at 10 a.m. or depart from Club Prior on a chartered bus at 9:30 a.m., arriving back at 2:30 p.m. Club Prior's address is 16210 Eagle Creek Ave SE, Prior Lake. The chartered bus is free thanks to an equity grant secured by Scott County through the Met Council. $30/person.


Family Adventure Day: Archery & Fishing

Are you looking for a day of outdoor adventure the whole family can enjoy together? Join the Outdoor Recreation School for a Family Adventure Day where you’ll learn to hit the target and reel in the fun! Start on the archery range as our instructors teach you how to safely aim, draw, and shoot like a pro. Cheer each other on, test your accuracy, and see who can hit the bullseye! Then head to the water to practice casting, baiting, and try your luck at catching a fish or two. Learn tips and tricks while enjoying time together outdoors. This program is designed for all skill levels and focuses on fun, teamwork, and trying something new as a family. $18/person.


Fly Fishing Basics - Scott Co.

Join the Outdoor Recreation School to discover the rhythms and techniques of fly fishing. Learn about equipment, casting, shooting the line, fly types and presentation. Equipment and fishing license provided for class only. Please wear closed-toe shoes and if you’d like to get closer to the action shoes that can get wet and muddy or waders. Participants aged 11 and under must be accompanied by a registered adult.

Yummy, gooey s’mores! Join the Outdoor Recreation School to learn geocaching basics and search for delicious treasure.


Introduction to Archery Camp: South

Join Outdoor Recreation School instructors for an exciting week of precision, skill and camaraderie. Discover the world of archery by shooting a compound bow, learning range safety and developing proper techniques. Get tips to shoot proficiently from varying distances. Discover primitive hunting techniques and challenge yourself with shooting games. Equipment provided.


Paint and Paddle

Dip your paddle and paintbrush into creativity! In this relaxed canoe experience, we’ll start by learning basic paddling skills from an Outdoor Recreation School instructor, and watercolor techniques from a Silverwood Park art instructor. After a gentle tour of the lake for inspiration, we’ll settle in, let the canoe drift and paint the scenery around us. No art or paddling experience needed, just curiosity, creativity and a love for being on the water.


Spring Fling Archery - Scott Co.

Spring is in the air, so let’s fling some arrows! Join the Outdoor Recreation School instructors to enjoy a lighthearted archery session filled with beginner instruction, colorful targets and spring-inspired challenges. Whether it’s your first time shooting or you’ve tried archery before, this program is all about laughing, learning, and celebrating the season together. Equipment provided.


Spring Women's Wellness Day: Purple Martin Majesty

Enjoy a day connecting with nature in the company of other women. Our program will begin with a 2.5-mile moderately paced hike on forested turf trails. We will then transition to tea time and learning about the purple martins who migrate from the Amazon to Cedar Lake Farm Regional Park every spring. We will practice vinyasa yoga to the accompaniment of purple martins singing and end with an extended resting pose set to resonant singing bowls. Our focus is on stress relief, community building and finding mindfulness in the outdoors.
